Progression Competence Panel
The Progression Competence Panel is responsible for the governance and decision-making of the Clinical Competency Portfolio Review (CCPR) assessment for all psychiatrists in Australia and New Zealand as a part of their Fellowship requirement.
- It contributes to a comprehensive and fair determination of the outcomes of the Portfolio Review.
- It ensures consistency and fairness in decision-making and reduction in variance across panels.
The Panel relies on its members’ valuable contribution to uphold the expected standard in the CCPR.
Responsibilities
Members’ key responsibilities include:
- Inform and guide the operationalisation of the CCPR assessment process.
- Oversee the governance and procedural integrity of the CCPR process.
- Oversee the development, evaluation and refinement of CCPR assessment criteria.
- Synthesise and review both qualitative and quantitative data from various assessments comprising CCPR to determine whether the candidate has met the required standard.
- Utilise its collective processes to interpret assessment data and make informed decisions about candidates’ progression.
- Apply a learning approach to how information is considered and how decisions are made.
- Manage and provide guidance to Portfolio Review assessors as required.
- Periodically review the performance of the Panel to ensure the deliverables are met.
- Identifying and reporting high-level risks to the Education Committee in accordance with the RANZCP Risk Management Policy.
Members
The Panel consists of six (6) Fellows with expertise in education, training and assessments.

Meeting frequency
The Panel meet as and when required via videoconference, and the duration of these meetings (should they occur) will vary.
