Committee for Examinations
Responsible directly to the Education Committee, the Committee for Examinations (CFE) role is to prepare, administer and assess the following summative examinations:
- Psychotherapy Written Case
- Multiple Choice Question examination
- Essay-style examination
- Scholarly Project.
The Committee for Examinations regulates the conduct of summative assessments that leads to progress of candidates through the training program. The role of the committee is to establish and develop:
- policy in relation to the examinations
- the criteria and standards of performance to satisfy the rules and processes of the College,
- assess and determine the eligibility of candidates to sit examinations
- conduct and report on College examinations, including the preparation of examination papers.
Membership
Membership of the Committee for Examinations comprises the following members:
- Chair
- Deputy Chair
Chair and Deputy Chair of each of the following CFE subcommittees:
- Case History Subcommittee
- Scholarly Project Subcommittee
- Written Examinations Subcommittee.
The Chair is elected by the Board from amongst the Fellows of the College and is appointed by Board on the recommendation of the Education Committee. The Chair, Committee for Examinations is a member of the Education Committee.
The Deputy Chair is also selected from amongst the Fellows of the College. The Deputy Chair shall be appointed by the Board on the recommendation of the Education Committee
The Chairs and Deputy Chairs of the CFE Subcommittees are appointed to the CFE by virtue of the position they hold (ex-officio).
Responsibilities of the committee
The key responsibilities for the committee is as follows:
- consider and develop policy in relation to the examinations for recommendation to the Education Committee
- determine the criteria and standards of performance to satisfy the rules and processes of the College from time to time and in particular the RANZCP Fellowship Regulations 2012 and principles of the curriculum framework
- assess and determine the eligibility of candidates to sit examinations
- conduct College examinations, including the preparation of examination papers
- establish and manage subcommittees for specific purposes determined by the committee
- identifying and managing risks associated with the committee and its subcommittees, in accordance with the College Risk Management Policy, and for reporting high level risks to the Education Committee and the Corporate Governance and Risk Committee (CGRC).
Committee member commitment required.
Term of Office
Members’ term of office is for two (2) x three (3) year terms.
Meetings
The Committee for Examinations conducts fortnightly teleconferences of one hour duration and meets face-to-face bi-annually, for one day, at the College Secretariat, usually in the months of February and July.
