Research grants and scholarships
Every year, we make grant funding available to fellows and trainees who are novice, emerging or established researchers, for studies in psychiatry.
PhD Scholarships
Three PhD scholarship programs for RANZCP members conducting psychiatry research, valued at up to $60,000 each.
Two annual PhD scholarships funded by Dr Bryanne Barnett AM.

One annual PhD scholarship funded by RANZCP Foundation Partners
A biennial PhD scholarship funded by the Trisno family.
New and early career researchers
Funding for new researchers (Trainees and Fellows in their first five years post Fellowship) to undertake a small-scale study. Up to $6,000.
Funding for Fellows or Affiliates who are pursuing innovative research in psychiatry. Up to $10,000.
Proof of concept
Up to $5,000 for pilot or proof-of-concept studies at any career stage.
Sub-specialty grants and scholarships
Funding for a longitudinal study on early parenting outcomes. Closed.
Biennial scholarship for research into perinatal mood disorders. Up to $50,000.
Up to $10,000 to support psychotherapy research by trainees and recent Fellows.
Research funding to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. Supported by A/Prof. Anne Sved Williams AM and Dr Tony William. Grants up to $50,000. Open now.
Indigenous leadership scholarships
We are proud to support Indigenous leadership programs, helping to build capacity and foster inclusive excellence.
Scholarships to develop leadership skills for the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander psychiatrists.
Annual Wānanga for Māori psychiatrists to build connection and trust.

Every year, the RANZCP Foundation makes grant funding available to RANZCP Fellows and trainees to enable psychiatric research, clinical work, meaningful initiatives, scholarships and innovative projects that improve mental health.
