The RANZCP Section of Child and Adolescent Forensic Psychiatry (SCAFP) promotes practice, training and research pertaining to child and adolescent forensic psychiatry.

Child and adolescent forensic psychiatry

Child and adolescent forensic psychiatry focuses on the mental health and wellbeing of children, adolescents and families interacting with civil or criminal legal systems.

Aims

This Section aims to:

  • promote the objectives of the College relating to child and adolescent forensic psychiatry
  • advise on training in child and adolescent forensic psychiatry
  • advance and disseminate research in child and adolescent forensic psychiatry
  • contribute to and promote the highest standards of clinical practice.

The chair of the SCAFP bi-national committee is Dr Yolisha Singh.

Awards

In order to encourage achievements and excellence in child and adolescent forensic psychiatry, the Section supports the following award:

  • The Adler Nurcombe Trainee Prize

This $500 annual Prize is awarded to an Advanced Trainee in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and/or Forensic Psychiatry for the most outstanding paper or poster presented at the annual scientific meeting of the Section of Child and Adolescent Forensic Psychiatry.
