2026 PhD Scholarships
The RANZCP Foundation is pleased to offer four PhD scholarships that support emerging researchers and strengthen the future of psychiatric research.

Foundation Partners PhD Scholarship
Trisno Family PhD Scholarship
You only need to submit one application to be considered for all four scholarships.
The Barnett PhD Scholarship is designed to encourage and support PhD research in psychiatry by RANZCP members.
You may be at any stage of your PhD, and your research does not need to focus on a specific sub-specialty or area within psychiatry.
This scholarship is supported by the generosity of Dr Bryanne Barnett AM.
Value
Two scholarships will be offered in 2026. Each is valued up to A$60,000 per year.
Eligibility
To apply, you must be:
- a current RANZCP Fellow, Affiliate, or trainee
- enrolled, or provide evidence of future enrolment as a PhD candidate in psychiatric research at an Australian or Aotearoa New Zealand tertiary institution.
Key dates
Applications open July 1 and close August 31 2026.
Use of funds
The Scholarship funds can be used for stipend support, research expenses, or a combination of both.

You can start your application, save your progress and return to it at any time before the closing date.
You will need the following documents to complete your application:
- Curriculum vitae
- Proof of ethics approval, or evidence that an ethics application is pending
- At least two letters of support from different referees, supervisors or research group leaders
