CPD for Certificant members
The RANZCP CPD program for Certificants of Postgraduate Training in Clinical Psychiatry is designed to maintain your skills and connection to psychiatry.
The RANZCP CPD program allows you to:
- stay up to date with developments in psychiatric research and practice
- join Peer Review Groups
- access psychiatry e-learning, webinars, journals and more.
All Certificants who meet the requirements of the program may use the postnominals ‘Cert. Psychiatry (RANZCP)’.
CPD requirements
You must complete 10 hours of CPD dedicated to psychiatry learning to use the postnominals ‘Cert. Psychiatry (RANZCP)’. These 10 hours must include:
- min. 5 hours of Section 2: Formal Peer Review activities.
- min. 5 hours across Section 3: Practice Improvement / Measuring Outcomes and / or Section 4: Self-guided learning.
The second set of 5 hours can be spread between Section 3 and 4, or you can claim all 5 hours in one section.
Claiming RANZCP CPD
You will be given access to MyCPD to track activities and compliance.
If you have a CPD Home that is not RANZCP and want to claim 10 hours of psychiatry learning as part of your annual CPD, check with your CPD Home what you can claim. Report activities with RANZCP as well as your CPD Home.

Fees
Enrolment in the RANZCP CPD program is included in your Certificant member fees.
Exemptions
Once enrolled, you can apply for an exemption from RANZCP Certificant CPD requirements if you are on a break in practice for any of the following reasons:
- extended leave (for example, long service leave, extended travel, sabbatical)
- parental leave
- prolonged carers leave
- prolonged illness
- special consideration (for example, bereavement, compassionate grounds).
For breaks of less than 6 months, you must complete the full 10 hours of psychiatry CPD and there is no need to advise the College.
For breaks of more than 6 months, but less than 12 months, you must complete 5 hours of psychiatry learning. This includes 2.5 hours of Formal Peer Review and 2.5 hours of Practice Improvement and/or Self-guided learning.
For breaks of more than 12 months, you can apply for a full exemption.
