New accreditation standards for training posts: documents and training

Implementation of the College’s new accreditation standards for training programs and posts is underway. Training program accreditation under the new standards commenced in July 2026, and from 1 January 2027, the new standards and process will also apply to training post accreditation.

The College’s accreditation policies, procedures, guidelines and associated documents are available on the accrediting posts, programs and courses webpage. This webpage is a central hub for accreditation requirements, procedures, reporting templates and related guidance to support consistent implementation of the new standards.

To help stakeholders prepare, information webinars for training committees and other stakeholders involved in the accreditation reviews of training posts will be held over the coming months.

Branch and New Zealand Training Committees members are encouraged to register for an upcoming webinar on applying the new standards and process to training post accreditation. The sessions will:

• introduce the new accreditation standards and key changes
• explain the post accreditation process and associated procedure
• introduce the updated reporting template and the new risk-matrix, and guide users in completing it
• set clear expectations for consistent assessment and reporting of post accreditations
• clarify the role of Branch and New Zealand Training Committees in accreditation review, decision-making and monitoring.
