Accreditation of the College
AMC and MCNZ accreditation of the RANZCP
The RANZCP is accredited by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) and the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) to deliver specialist medical education and training, and professional development programs. This accreditation is mandatory for specialist medical colleges in Australia and New Zealand.
The AMC and the MCNZ work together to review bi-national training programs, using jointly agreed standards.
The College's new training program was assessed in 2012.
Following the College's annual progress report for 2019, the AMC granted accreditation to 2023. This takes the College's accreditation to the full period which the AMC will grant between assessments, which is 10 years.
The College has submitted its application for reaccreditation to the AMC as a requirement to continue as the provider of training and education in psychiatry.
