Disputing a training or assessment decision (Early Resolution)

The Early Resolution Policy has now been published on the RANZCP website, relevant to educational and training decisions.

Early Resolution

The RANZCP has published updated information on Disputing a training and assessment decision (Early Resolution)

The Early Resolution Policy and Procedure focuses on resolving complaints or challenges to education and training decisions, prior to accessing the RANZCP formal appeals process.

Trainees or SIMGs who have questions or concerns about a training or assessment related decision, should first speak to their supervisor, Director of Training or health service for feedback and advice.

If you are still dissatisfied, please refer to your outcome letter for guidance on how you may challenge the decision via Early Resolution. If you didn’t receive an outcome letter, contact the relevant College team for guidance:

Before seeking Early Resolution

Prior to considering Early Resolution, please read the Early Resolution Policy and Procedure and Application for Early Resolution Form for important information on:

  • When Early Resolution is applicable;
  • Grounds for Early Resolution; and
  • The process and possible outcomes.

Grounds for seeking Early Resolution

Examples of possible grounds include:

  • An error having been made in the decision-making process (i.e. that RANZCP policy or process has not been followed);
  • Relevant information was not considered; or
  • A request for feedback or further information.

Please note that receiving an unsuccessful training or assessment outcome does not, on its own, establish grounds to request Early Resolution.

Appeals Policy

If Early Resolution does not resolve your concerns, you may access the Review, Reconsideration and Appeals process (Appeals Policy) which provides additional independent mechanisms to challenge outcomes.
