The RANZCP invites applications from suitably qualified members for the position of Editor, Australasian Psychiatry.

Australasian Psychiatry’s current Editor, Professor Vlasios (Bill) Brakoulias concludes his time in the role in 2024. 

Australasian Psychiatry is a highly regarded international journal which has developed significantly under Professor Brakoulias’ leadership. The College is deeply appreciative of his substantial contributions since taking on the role in 2014.  

About the opportunity

The position of Editor, Australasian Psychiatry is an important role within the College and has significant responsibility and independence to oversee the publication of the journal.

The Editor, Australasian Psychiatry is an honorary appointment and is accountable to the College’s Board. The initial term of appointment is five years, and reappointment for a second five-year term is possible.

Working closely with the journal’s publisher, the Editor has final, overall responsibility for each issue of Australasian Psychiatry The Editor is assisted by Deputy Editors, a Trainee Editor, Associate Trainee Editors and an editorial board, and appropriate editorial office support is also provided.

About Australasian Psychiatry

Australasian Psychiatry is a bi-monthly journal of the RANZCP and was first published in 1993. It is published in February, April, June, October and December, and has a total circulation of approximately 10,000 institutions and 8,000 individual RANZCP members.

Australasian Psychiatry provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas about significant developments in psychiatry, and promotes the discipline in Australia and New Zealand, and throughout the world. It publishes original articles covering such areas as clinical practice, research, training and continuing medical education, innovations and developments in psychiatric services, rural and remote psychiatry, indigenous mental health, mental health policy, history, ethics and the arts. More than 368,895 articles are downloaded annually.
