Call for nominations: National Assessment Panel members

The number of specialist international medical graduate (SIMG) psychiatrists seeking assessment through the specialist pathway continues to grow across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Supporting a sustainable specialist workforce while maintaining assessment standards is an important component of the College's strategic priorities to strengthen the psychiatric profession and ensure access to high-quality psychiatric care. 

The College is seeking Fellows to join the National Assessment Panel (NAP) to support the continued delivery of specialist assessments. Through this role members can make an important contribution to maintaining standards and supporting a sustainable, appropriately qualified specialist workforce across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

Responsibilities will include

• Assess SIMG suitability for entry to the specialist pathway to RANZCP Fellowship.
• Determine the suitability of applicants entering 'Area of Need' positions.
• Determine the assessment requirements to attain Fellowship for SIMG applicants by reviewing each applicant’s experience, qualifications and training.
• Conduct a paper-based assessment and online interview to make preliminary and final recommendations to the Committee for Specialist IMG Education (CSIMGE). 

Training

Training is provided to all NAP members and the CSIMGE will provide support, guidance on assessments and respond to queries as required.

Panel members also receive an honorarium for each paper-based assessment and interview completed.
