Support for university medical and psychiatry societies

Want PIF sponsorship support for your psychiatry focused events and activities?
The RANZCP's Psychiatry Interest Forum (PIF) offers an annual grant of up to $1,300 (no GST) to university medical and/or psychiatry societies to host psychiatry career related activities and events.
Event ideas
Some of the events and activities that PIF may consider supporting are:
- Careers nights (with a psychiatry speaker)
- Educational activities such as psychiatry career workshops, lectures and webinars.
- Psychiatry networking session(s)
- Psychiatry/MedFest film nights (with post-film discussion/analysis facilitated by a psychiatrist)
- Blue Week educational activities (facilitated by a psychiatrist)
- Psychiatry themed podcasts
- Rural training/Indigenous Health Events (with a psychiatry speaker)
- Women in Medicine/diversity in medicine (with a psychiatry speaker)
Examples of events that PIF is unable to support:
- Graduation events
- Evening galas/balls/etc.
- Social events (e.g. BBQs, and anything heavily alcohol-focused, such as pub crawls/wine & cheese nights)
- Sports-focused events
Speakers or participants for your events and activities
Please note that it is grant recipient's responsibility to find speakers for the proposed activities and events.
We highly recommend providing potential speakers/participants with a minimum of 6-8 weeks' notice of your event. This allows them to plan their schedules accordingly, as they typically have limited availability. There is an increased likelihood of their involvement if you provide them with enough notice to plan ahead.
We suggest asking members of your medical/psychiatry faculties, and if applicable, your work colleagues, if they are interested in participating as speakers (if they have a psychiatry qualification). If they are unavailable, ask for their recommendations for potential speakers.
If this does not produce a speaker, we would recommend using the RANZCP's search engine for psychiatrists.

Post-event report
Finished a sponsored event?
Following your event, you are required to fill out the post-event report, which is a condition of the PIF university grant. These reports assist us to continue our support to the universities.
The RANZCP has received Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing funding for five scholarship places under the Psychiatry Workforce Program (PWP) to deliver the PIF Australia program.
