Dr Angelo Diedricks

Trained as a psychiatrist through the College of Psychiatrists in South Africa 28 years ago after obtaining initial medical qualification at the Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela School of Medicine in Durban, South Africa. Worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in South Africa and England before moving to Cairns, Australia in 2004. Holds specialist qualifications of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and College of Psychiatrists of South Africa. Consultant psychiatrist for the Community Older Persons Mental Health Service for the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital & Health Service (CHHHS) for 22 years. Chairperson of the Far North Queensland Human Research Ethics Committee which ethics review and oversight of research for both the CHHHS and the Torres & Cape HHS. Member of the Cairns Clinical Ethics Forum providing support and advice for clinical teams navigating ethical complexities in clinical care within the CHHHS. Involved in registrar teaching and contribute to training programmes for non-clinical and lay people involved in the support and care of individuals with mental health vulnerabilities.
