RANZCP Fellows recognised in Australia Day 2026 Honours List

We’re proud to acknowledge the incredible achievements of RANZCP Fellows who have been recognised in the 2026 Australia Day Honours List.  

Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the General Division

Professor Anne Buist

Appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia – For distinguished service to psychiatry, to advancing best practice in perinatal mental health research and treatment, and to mental health education.

Professor Anne Buist AO is the Chair of Women’s Mental Health at the University of Melbourne, and currently honorary at Austin Health where she worked for nearly 30 years. She has over 35 years clinical and research experience in perinatal psychiatry which she has promoted to GPs, nurses and registrars as well as the public. Professor Buist was director of mother-baby units, more recently overseeing an outreach team that works to improve attachment and long-term outcomes, and director of the Beyond Blue PND initiative which resulted in Australia-wide screening for perinatal depression and anxiety.

She has been an investigator on perinatal research projects that gained over $7 million dollars in funding. Other research includes childhood abuse as a risk factor for perinatal depression, drug excretion into breastmilk, childbirth trauma and fear, and e-treatments. She served for six years on the RANZCP OSCE committee, last year became a Scholarly Project examiner and is a sponsor of the RANZCP Foundation.

Associate Professor David Dossetor

Appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia – For distinguished service to psychiatry, particularly neurodevelopmental mental health in children and adolescents, and to paediatric clinician education.

Associate Professor Dossetor AO co-founded Westmead Feelings Program, with the Australian Council for Educational Research and Child and Adolescent Intellectual Disability Hub service at the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network. He was Director of Mental Health from 2003-2018, Director of the Developmental Psychiatry Team and Department Head of Mental Health from 1996-2004, and has been Leader, Child Psychiatry, Department of Psychological Medicine since 1981. 

In addition to being a RANZCP Fellow, he holds honorary Fellowship at the Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of Psychiatrists.

He has authored over 70 peer reviewed papers, various book chapters and over 40 educationally based articles. He is Co-Editor of 'Mental Health of Children and Adolescents with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, A framework for Professional Practice' and a member of the editorial panel for the Journal for Mental Health of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. In 2016, he was recognised as the Collaborative Leader of the Year at the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network.

Professor Henry Brodaty AO is transforming the diagnosis, care and prevention of dementia – improving countless lives, both in Australia and around the world.

He co-founded the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing and led internationally significant research that enhanced the world’s understanding of risk and prevention. His large Maintain Your Brain trial demonstrated that straightforward, cost-effective, targeted interventions can profoundly delay onset and even prevent dementia. He is a leader who has reshaped dementia care from every angle as he navigates toward a future where dementia is better treated and prevented.
