Shen Rui Yap attended the RANZCP 2024 Faculty of Adult Psychiatry Conference as a PIF scholar

"Attending the RANZCP Adult Psychiatry Conference was an eye-opening experience that deepened my understanding and appreciation for the field. Dr Kay shone a spotlight on the critical shortage of psychiatrists in Australia and the importance of being compassionate to yourself and your peers. 

The variety of presentations provided a comprehensive view on ADHD and explored current advancements in psychiatry. Dr Paterson’s dedication to treating ADHD patients was deeply inspiring and it highlighted the challenges of practicing in the field of ADHD. 

The speakers were engaging and offered insights that extended beyond textbook knowledge. Their passion for psychiatry was contagious, reinforcing my desire to pursue this specialty. 

The conference provided valuable networking opportunities, allowing me to engage with psychiatrists who shared their real-world experiences and advice. 

Overall, the conference not only reinforced my interest in psychiatry, but also provided valuable insights that I will carry forward in my studies and future practice".
