National Reconciliation Week 2025

This week from 27 May to 3 June is National Reconciliation Week. This year’s theme – Bridging Now to Next – reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. It calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.

National Sorry Day

National Sorry Day took place on 26 May. It is a day to reflect on the harm caused to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly members of the Stolen Generations. It is also a moment to recognise their strength and resilience, and to consider the role each of us can play in supporting healing and reconciliation.

RANZCP Reconciliation Action Plan

As a College, we continue to progress the priorities and deliverables identified in our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2024–2026. These actions are grounded in genuine partnerships and our commitment to increase meaningful engagement, to call out misinformation and discrimination, and to enable our First Nations voices to truly be heard.

In the following video, Dr Marshall Watson, Chair of the RANZCP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health Committee, shares his thoughts on this year’s theme. He also outlines the progress we’re making in attracting, supporting and retaining our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander psychiatry workforce, and our work across policy, advocacy and education.
