EOIs open for government funded training posts

Health services and hospitals in Australia are invited to submit expressions of interest for psychiatry training posts under two key programs: the Psychiatry Workforce Program (PWP) and Military and Veteran Psychiatry Training Program (MVPTP).
Applications are open until 5.00 pm AEST, Friday 26 June 2026.
The PWP EOI will cover:
- A targeted expansion of the PWP, supporting the establishment of 10 FTE training posts within Medicare Mental Health Centres (MMHC), together with associated supervisor positions.
- The establishment of a reserve list for new, previously unfunded posts.
New PWP posts will be funded for 2027 and 2028.

The MVPTP EOI will cover:
- Establishment of one new, previously unfunded MVPTP training post; and
- Establishment of a reserve list for new, previously unfunded posts.
Applications are invited from eligible health services in Australia that provide services to military and veteran personnel and are located within areas of high Defence presence.
Funding under the MVPTP EOI applies to approved psychiatry training posts delivered from Rotation 1, 2027 through to the end of Rotation 2, 2027.
