A message regarding Mauao Mount Maunganui landslides

Update
Kia ora koutou on a very sad occasion. The hearts of the world are with the loved ones and whānau of those who have died or are missing following landslides at Mauao Mount Maunganui.
The thoughts of the College are with our members and staff across Aotearoa, particularly those in the North Island whose personal and professional lives are impacted most.
Psychiatrists have a key clinical leadership role in providing treatment for people who develop mental health disorders following exposure to a traumatic event, as well as those with pre-existing mental health problems whose condition may have deteriorated. The College has established resources on addressing the mental health impacts of disasters that may be useful at this time.
While the nature of our work means we’re often exposed to trauma and distress, it is imperative that we also take time to care for ourselves and each other. Support is available if you need it, including the RANZCP Member Support Program available for free to all members and their family/whānau.
