Dr Monique O’Connor is a senior psychiatrist and longstanding member of the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age. Monique is a specialist in grief following bereavement, working in private practice providing condition-specific brief psychotherapy for the management of Prolonged Grief Disorder.
Monique trained in medicine at King’s College, London and completed psychiatry fellowship training in Western Australia, specialising in Old Age Psychiatry. She held the role of Advanced Training Director for Psychiatry of Old Age in Western Australia from 2000 to 2005. Having undertaken training at the Centre for Prolonged Grief at Columbia University, her career has focused on grief following bereavement. Monique advocates for the advancement of grief literacy amongst health professionals through teaching and case supervision.
