Presenter

Professor Michael Berk

Professor Michael Berk is currently a NHMRC Senior Principal research Fellow and is Deakin Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at Deakin University and Barwon Health, where he heads the Institute for Innovation in Mental and Physical Health and Clinical Translation (IMPACT). He also is an Honorary Professorial Research fellow in the Department of Psychiatry, the Florey Institute for Neuroscience and Mental Health and Orygen Youth Health at Melbourne University, as well as in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. He was awarded the Brain & Behaviour (NARSAD) Colvin Award for Mood Disorders in 2015, the Victoria Prize for life sciences in 2019, the International Society for Bipolar Disorders Bob Post award for mentorship in 2020 and the RANZCP Senior Research Award in 2021. He is past president of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders and current vice president of the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry. He has published over 1400 papers and is listed by Thompson Reuters ISI as highly cited (2015-2022). He has been awarded over $147M in grant funding. His major interests are in the discovery and implementation of novel therapies, and risk factors and prevention of psychiatric disorders.

Online attendance

Zoom attendance available for members in the south/north west.

Live stream attendees will be sent the Zoom link prior to the event. Confirmation of start time for the webinar will also be sent with the link.

This is an in-person event. If you are unable to attend in person i.e., for members in the north / north west of the state, there will be an option to view the event via live stream. Please note, as this is an in-person event, attendees will have the priority and their questions addressed first, if there is time, questions may be taken from the online audience.

Cancellations and refunds

*This event is free for Tasmanian trainees to attend. Those who don't attend on the night will be invoiced for the cost of the meal ($65), unless there are extenuating circumstances. If you are no longer able to attend, you must advise ranzcp.tas@ranzcp.org before 4 pm on 12 August, and you won't be charged.

Change of mind cancellations must be made in writing and sent to ranzcp.tas@ranzcp.org for a full refund by 4 pm on 14 August 2025.
