Module 1: Dual Diagnosis & Habit/ Lifestyle modification (Motivational Interviewing, Brief Interventions, Relapse Prevention, Behavioural Therapy)

Psychoeducation based on CBT, Motivational approaches – Motivational Interviewing (MI) for a Therapeutic interview, and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET).

Behavioural modification and Lifestyle change.

Module 2: Core Principles and Practice of CBT for Common Mental Disorders and Dual diagnosis presentation (Eliciting and Restructuring dysfunctional Cognitions)

Science behind therapy: Neurological and Psycho-Neuro-Endocrine-Immunological (PNI) basis of psychotherapy, the Min-Brain-Body-Cell-Gene connect.

Emotional work: CBT and REBT management of Emotions, enhancing Coping.

Cognitive work, Elicitation: Cognitive Analysis to elicit Dysfunctional cognitive schema (including negative automatic thoughts, beliefs, assumptions core beliefs and schema)

Cognitive work, Restructuring: Strategies and styles of Disputation, to gentle challenge and effectively restructure dysfunctional cognitions into helpful and self-efficacious beliefs. Cognitive restructuring in conventional 6 column CBT structure, as well as more conversational and experiential restructuring. Meichenbaum’s self-instructional training.

Module 3: CBT for Depression and Anxiety (Behavioural and Cognitive Strategies and Techniques for Depression and Anxiety)

Depression: Behavioural interventions - Activity scheduling, Behavioural activation. Cognitive interventions

Anxiety: Introduction to psychodynamic principles used in CBT also (maladaptive and adaptive defences and coping, coping enhancement). Relaxation, Introduction to Mindfulness, and Trauma informed Exposure based CBT.

Module 4: Cognitive Schema, and Core Beliefs – Deeper aspects of CBT approach (Theoretical and Experiential understanding of Core Beliefs and Cognitive Schemas)

Cognitive Schema: Introduction to Cognitive Schemas, five schema domains of and eighteen schemas. Understanding the broad and pervasive patterns of behaviour and thinking, which work like templates or themes for organizing information and guiding how the world is interpreted, and events are predicted. 

Core Beliefs: Introduction to Core Beliefs. Six main categories of core beliefs. Understanding the specific assumptions embedded within cognitive schemas, and influence how we understand experiences. How maladaptive coping with Core Beliefs can perpetuate them. Assessments and Intervention approaches.
