Monthly RANZCP ADHD Network Grand Round Case Presentation

Dr Karuppiah Jagadheesan
Dr Karuppiah Jagadheesan is a general adult psychiatrist, the current chair of the RANZCP Bi-national Network Committee. He is also the jurisdictional member of the Bi-national Adult Faculty. He works at the North West Area Mental Health Service and the Northpark Private Hospital in Melbourne.
He broadly has an interest in psychiatric diagnoses, epidemiology, phenomenology, pharmacotherapy, outcome, and service provision. He was involved in the RANZCP survey on ADHD across lifespan. He is a strong advocate for equitable access to care for individuals with ADHD. He has been a member of the guideline development group of the Australian Evidence-Based Clinical Guideline for ADHD.

Peter Heffernan
Peter has extensive experience in Psychiatry, Psychological Medicine, and Psychotherapy. He has worked in the field of assessment and care of Adults with ADHD over the past 12 years, including the assessment, diagnosis and management of over 3,500 patients. He is a member of the United Kingdom Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN) having completed the UKAAN training in the assessment and treatment of Adult ADHD at the London Institute of Psychiatry. He is also an augural member of the Australian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA). He spearheaded the creation of the RANZCP ADHD Network Committee, was its initial Chair and continues to be an active member of the Committee.
He coordinates an RANZCP ADHD in Adults Peer Review Group, which has been meeting monthly for the past 8 years. He developed an education program "ADHD in Adult Psychiatry" which several NZ psychiatrists have attended.

Associate Professor Soumya Basu
Associate Professor Soumya Basu is a child and adolescent Psychiatrist. He has trained in both India and Australia and has more than 20 years of experience in Psychiatry.
After doing a Diploma in Psychological Medicine (DPM) and MD in Psychiatry in India, he came to Australia and gained his Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He has trained to become a Faculty Member of the Child and Adolescent branch of this college. Dr Basu is a Clinical Associate Professor for the Department of Psychological Medicine at Monash University. He is the coordinator of the child and adolescent post graduate training program with Monash University. He has research interests in children of parents with mental illness, early intervention, developmental trauma and developmental disabilities including Autism, early psychosis and transcultural Psychiatry. He has more than 40 research publications in peer reviewed journals. Several of his research papers have been presented in National and International conferences.
He is a consultant Child and Adolescent psychiatrist for the Early in Life Mental health services with Monash health, Melbourne. He is consultant in-charge of the Neurodevelopmental assessment unit and the Chair of MONDIR ( MOnash Neuro-Developmental Interdisciplinary Research. He is also the Director of child psychiatry of Victorian Institute of Mental Health, where he leads a multi-disciplinary teams.
