Entry requirements
RANZCP trainees can begin a Certificate of Advanced Training during Stage 3 of the Fellowship program. You can apply from the end of Stage 2.
Fellows can do an Advanced Certificate at any time.
Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMG) must achieve Fellowship before enrolling in an Advanced Certificate.
To be accepted, trainees need to:
- be a Stage 3 trainee
- pass the MCQ exam
- pass other assessments required by the Certificate.
How to apply
- Contact your local training program to receive local enrolment details.
- Complete the Application to Commence Advanced Training [PDF; 121 KB], including contact details for three references. One should be your current supervisor, clinical lead or equivalent.
- Attach supporting documents to your application:
- current CV, including all medical experience
- four most recent end-of-rotation ITA forms (pre-Fellowship trainees only)
- current training record (pre-Fellowship trainees only)
- statement regarding your work performance from your most recent employer (Fellows only; not applicable if self-employed).
- Submit form according to local program instructions.
- References will be followed up, and referees asked to complete a report.
- If eligible, you will be invited to an interview with the DOAT (or their delegate).
- You will be notified of the outcome of your interview by email.
- If your application is successful, complete the Advanced Training Selection Notification Form (ATSN form). Need help? See instructions for how to initiate Advanced Training Selection Notification form in InTrain.
