Kiingi Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero Tuawhitu, he taonga kua ngaro ki tua o Rangi-whakamoe-ariki. Moe mai rā!
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists is saddened to hear of the passing of Kiingi Tuheitia, and sends much aroha to his whānau.
We acknowledge the important mahi of Kiingi Tuheitia over so many years in advocating for better outcomes for Māori.
The loss will be felt by so many across Aotearoa, including within our own community of psychiatrists, trainees, junior doctors and medical students.
Our thoughts are with our kaumatua, our Te Kaunihera members and our Kaiārahi during this period of mourning.
Ngā mihi aroha.
