In-personAre you interested to learn more about psychiatry training in rural location? Register your interest to attend a Networking event with trainees and SIMG who are currently training or practicing in a rural location.
The RANZCP's Rural Psychiatry Training Pathways Team is pleased to extend an invitation to local PIF members to attend a networking event to launch the Rural Readiness Workshop in Hahndorf, SA on Friday 21st November from 6pm to 8pm.
This event, with complimentary canapes and refreshments is a great opportunity to informally chat with trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMG), who share an interest in training and practicing psychiatry in regional, rural and remote Australia.
Rising above the valleys in the picturesque Mount Lofty Ranges, the centre is perched atop 32 acres of manicured grounds, just 800 metres from Hahndorf’s main street. This is an informal setting to enable relaxed engagement, so please dress smart casual and bring along your questions about training and practicing in a rural location. Participants who are attending the Rural Readiness workshop on Saturday 22 November 2025 will be at the event, as will members of the RANZCP Rural Psychiatry Training Pathways (RPTP) Team.
PIF members are also able to attend the all-day workshop on Saturday 22 November.
Limited spots are available. Register your interests by Sunday 26 October.
Saturday's workshop includes:
- Peer support opportunities to share individual experiences
- Case studies and panel discussions
- A brief overview of opportunities available specifically for trainees in rural locations at the RANZCP
- Interactive learnings and collaborative sessions
- Discussion of the realities of psychiatry in a rural and remote location
Terms and Conditions
Applicants must:
- Be a current RANZCP Psychiatry Interest Forum (PIF) member (or have their application pending) and be based in the Hahndorf or surrounding area. PIF members who are trainees of Fellows of another specialties are ineligible.
- Please note the participants are responsible for securing time off work/study in order to attend the Networking event and organise their own travel and/or parking, if required.
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists has received Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing funding under the Psychiatry Workforce Program to deliver the PIF program, and the Flexible Approach to Training in Expanded Settings (FATES) program to deliver the Rural Readiness initiative.
