The Queensland Section of Psychiatry of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and the Section of Youth Mental Health and the Faculty of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry are pleased to present a joint dinner event. This event has been kindly sponsored by Aurora.
Dr Paula Lorinan and Dr Solomon Shatananda , along with Associate Professor Helen (Honey) Heussler, will be presenting.
Dr Paula Lorinan will present "Treading softly" supporting young people through a first episode of psychosis and ID CYMHS in private practice.
Associate Professor Helen ("Honey") Heussler will present "Sleep Challenges for Young People with Neurodiversity".
Dr Solomon Shatananda will present "Mind the Gap: Transition, Vulnerability, and Mental Health in IDD"

Presenters
Dr Shatananda
Dr Shatananda is a dual-trained psychiatrist in Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, with international experience in Australia and the UK. He currently works in the Gold Coast Mental Health and Intellectual Disability Service and has played a key role in establishing the service and shaping its model of service. He brings rare expertise in neurodevelopmental disorders and behavioural analysis to complex presentations across the lifespan.
He has a strong interest in transition from adolescence to adulthood for individuals with IDD, having worked across CAMHS-ID and Adult ID services, as a transition consultant addressing gaps in care for those with co-occurring mental health difficulties. Dr Shatananda is a Senior Lecturer at Griffith University and an experienced conference speaker."
Paula McLorinan
Paula is an IDCAMHS dual trained psychiatrist and qualified family therapist from Belfast. She has been a doctor for thirty years this year and has worked in the ID specialist field as a consultant since 2008.
She is currently clinical lead at the headspace early psychosis program in Southport and does ID specialist work in private practice on the Gold Coast.
