Psychiatry trainees and psychiatrists working for older adult teams or with an interest in older adult psychiatry are invited to attend this one-day training event.

Attendees will be eligible for CPD certificate. Online attendees will receive CPD certificates after completion of a workshop feedback form.

Online attendance

Online attendees will be sent a Zoom link following registration to their nominated email.

Workshop details

The workshop covers a range of clinical topics and interventions relating to older adults, including:

  • When self-neglect meets autonomy: navigating the clinical and ethical dilemmas in Diogenes Syndrome.
  • Assessing dementia in patients with intellectual disability.
  • Family, domestic and sexual violence in the older adult.
  • Assessment of fitness for trial in older people.
  • Opiod use and the older patient.
  • Investigating late life depression.
  • Carer distress and burden.

Abstract submission

FPOA Advanced trainees were invited to submit an abstract for a 45-minute presentation on a clinical case, topic or research project relating to older adult psychiatry.

The best FPOA Advanced Trainee presentations at the workshop will share a $750 prize.

Cancellations and refunds

All requests for cancellation must be made in writing and sent to ranzcp.qld@ranzcp.org before 8 September. There will be no refunds issued after this date.

The health and safety of attendees is our highest priority. The RANZCP requests that if you unwell or have cold or flu-like symptoms, please do not attend.

If, on medical grounds, you are unable to attend the conference, you must cancel your attendance in writing by email to ranzcp.qld@ranzcp.org. A full refund will be provided; however, you may be asked to provide additional details.
