We are excited to host this year's PIF Retreat in Sydney on the lands of the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation from Wednesday 22 to Thursday 23 April 2026

This is the fourth year running the two-day enrichment activity that is planned specifically for PIF members to develop and deepen their existing psychiatry interest and knowledge. The PIF Retreat program will be designed to suit PIF members who have foundational knowledge about psychiatry careers and would like to advance their understanding of psychiatry as a specialty.

The two-day immersive program will include a diverse range of presentations, an enrichment activity, and networking sessions with psychiatrists, trainees, as well as an opportunity to meet other like-minded PIF scholars from around Australia.

An example of some topics included in the past PIF Retreat program are women’s mental health, working in developmental disability healthcare, functional somatic symptoms, old age psychiatry in a rural area, psychedelic assisted psychotherapy and lived experience perspectives of carers and consumers. Broader topics are also included such as the RANZCP Fellowship Program, a day in the life of a psychiatrist, rural psychiatry, diverse subspecialties and First Nations mental health.
