Job offer requirements for SIMGs
You no longer need to have a job offer before applying for Specialist Assessment. A job offer is only required once you've received your outcome.
Before starting your Partial Comparability or Substantial Comparability Placement through the College, you must have a confirmed job offer in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand.
Type of job offer required
Job offers need to match the outcome of your specialist assessment:
- Partially Comparable candidates need a registrar-level job offer.
- Substantially Comparable candidates need a consultant-level job offer.
Employer support required
Your employer must:
- be supportive of your pathway to RANZCP Fellowship
- provide you with a RANZCP-accredited supervisor
- provide adequate support for you to complete RANZCP training and assessment requirements.
You and your employer must both fill out and submit the Employer support declaration form [PDF 40.4KB] prior to beginning your placement.
Finding a job
Visit the Psychiatry Jobs hub to search through available positions.
Note: the RANZCP doesn’t organise jobs for candidates or engage in recruitment.
Evidence of your job offer
You’ll need to provide evidence of the offer to the SIMGE team at RANZCP. This could be:
- a confirmed job offer from the Australian or New Zealand employer
- a job description specific to the applicant’s position
- a letter of support from the Australian or New Zealand employer
- evidence of acceptance of the job offer, such as a signed contract.
