Accelerated pathway
The RANZCP accelerated pathway, launched in April 2025 streamlines the College's specialist assessment process for international specialist psychiatrists who meet specific requirements.
This assessment pathway requires less documentation and, in most cases, removes the requirement to attend an interview.
For new applications received from April 2025, the accelerated pathway is available to international specialist psychiatrists who hold the MRCPsych (UK) with CCT/CCST.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the accelerated pathway you must:
- hold the MRCPsych (UK) as well as CCT/CCST
- have AMC primary source verification
- intend to live and work in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand permanently.
Over time, the RANZCP plans to expand the list of international psychiatry qualifications that can receive accelerated status.
If you don't qualify for the accelerated pathway, you may still apply for the specialist assessment.
Timing
For applicants who qualify, the assessment process will take approximately 9 weeks from receipt of application.
Review process
If you are found to qualify for the accelerated pathway, you will not be required to submit additional documentation or attend an interview. Instead, your initial review will determine if you meet criteria. You may be contacted to clarify some statements provided in your application.
Fees
A non-refundable administrative fee of A$511 is due for all applicants. Additional fees may be payable if your application is found to be incomplete.
With no panel review or interview required, the specialist assessment fee for new accelerated pathway applicants is waived.
Outcomes of this application pathway
