STP Post Review details
The Australian Department of Health (DoH) has confirmed that the Specialist Training Program (STP) will be funded for academic years 2018-2020. The priority areas identified for 2018-2020 are:
- The private health sector
- Regional, rural and remote areas (ASGS RA2-5)
- Non-hospital settings, including Aged Care, Community Health and Aboriginal Medical Services.
The basis of the new agreements requires that all existing 2017 STP training posts are reviewed. Starting with any legacy posts, the review will consider how each STP post is aligning with and meeting the aims and objectives of the STP program.
A thorough review process has been developed by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and the assessment process is currently underway. Additional information will be requested and communication carried out between the RANZCP and relevant parties, including; relevant health jurisdictions, Health Services, Trainees (past and present) and College Committees such as the Accreditation Committee.
The information in the links below outline how the review will be conducted, what data will be collected, key parties to be engaged, and the associated timeframes.
