Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead up to 1.0FTE (permanent full time)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Mental Health service.
This permanent position will provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the NBMLHD service and incorporates a clinical lead role.
The successful applicant will provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the NBMLHD service. This position is expected to be primarily based in the Triage & Assessment Centre of the NBMLHD Mental Health Centre located at Nepean Hospital, but as agreed with the Clinical Director may work in any other part of the Mental Health service, as negotiated, and may be required to work across the NBMLHD. The TAC is a unique, recovery oriented, ED avoidance service that provides a timely mental health response. This position will suit those psychiatrists interested in assessment and management of acute psychiatric presentation and working closely with Emergency and Acute Mental Health Services and the community.
The successful applicant will also provide leadership that supports the medical workforce aligning with the Mental Health Service strategic plan and addressing relevant workforce issues.
The successful applicant may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the relevant University attached to each facility. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and will be held only during the tenure of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to the District for clinical matters
It is expected that this position participates in the on call roster outside these allocated hours. Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
