These are two newly created Relieving Consultant Psychiatrist positions within CALHN.
The purpose is to enable ongoing patient care during a period of absence from duty of the usual treating Consultant Psychiatrist. This will be due to approved leave. The role therefore will be covering the various units across the CALHN Mental Health Service with one position allocated for the Eastern sector (including the Royal Adelaide Hospital) and one for the Western sector (including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital). In the context of these two sectors, the roles will therefore involve covering a potential range of services, one at a time, including an acute ward, a psychiatric intensive care unit, the Consultation-Liaison service, the Emergency department, the Queenstown Intermediate Care Centre, psychogeriatric inpatient unit and the Community Mental Health service. This will therefore be a position that is able to be flexible and when there arises a situation where no leave requires coverage, the psychiatrist will be stationed within the joint Consultation Liaison – Emergency Department function.
The South Australian public sector promotes diversity and flexible ways of working including part-time. Applicants are encouraged to discuss the flexible working arrangements for this role. Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are encouraged to apply.
