Specialist Training Program (STP) in Psychiatry

STP-matrix-rectangle.jpgThe Specialist Training Program (STP) is an Australian Government initiative that provides funding to health organisations to support specialist medical training experiences in settings beyond traditional public teaching hospitals.

The RANZCP participates in this program as part of its commitment to expanding training opportunities for specialist trainees. 

Note: Australian Government funded Specialist Training Program (STP) posts are only open to current RANZCP trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates on the pathway to RANZCP Fellowship.

Expression of Interest (EOI)

The Department of Health (DoH) has confirmed the dates for the 2018 STP Expression of Interest round.

  •  Applications will open at 9am on 17 October 2018.
  • DoH Applications will close at 5pm on 20 November 2018.
  • RANZCP Supplementary Form will close at 5pm on 4 December 2018 AEDT.

Please note that in order for your application to be considered you will need to complete both the DoH’s EOI form and the RANZCP’s supplementary Form.
Information regarding the EOI and new priorities as set out in the STP Operational Framework will be available on the DoH’s website prior to the EOI commencing.
Successful posts will be contracted from Rotation 1, 2020.

The Specialist Training Program (STP) seeks to extend vocational training for specialist registrars into settings outside traditional metropolitan teaching hospitals, including regional, rural and remote and private facilities. The program aims to improve the quality of the future specialist workforce by providing registrars with exposure to a broader range of healthcare settings. STP also aims to have a positive influence on future workforce distribution.
