Learning Objectives

This session aims to provide:

  • a refresher on the key aspects of substance use disorders: use, misuse, harm reduction, relapse prevention and recovery
  • an understanding of focused assessments using MI informed practice and when to intervene
  • an understanding of pitfalls to avoid: overprescribing, inappropriate withdrawal, collusion and iatrogenic use disorder.
