Back for this year, the College is pleased to announce that applications for mentors to participate in the RANZCP Mentoring Program are now open.
Apply online now via the RANZCP Mentoring webpage.
Applications for mentees will open from 16 February.
The RANZCP Mentoring Program is a free member only service for trainees and early career psychiatrists in their first two years post-Fellowship.
The program provides a facilitated 8-month mentoring program specifically designed to match and pair mentees with suitably experienced College Fellows and Affiliate members.
What is mentoring in psychiatry?
The RANZCP Mentoring program provides eligible trainees and early career psychiatrists with access to confidential, non-supervisory support from an experienced psychiatrist. Mentees receive valuable support and professional inclusion, access to a collegiate network, and professional guidance towards achieving long-term career goals.
Mentors from last year’s program said that:
‘I do believe that the mentoring program is invaluable to a trainee and also provides an opportunity to mentor with a spirit of generosity.’
‘Mentoring is always rewarding – helping a young person progress their early career as a psychiatrist.’
Eligible mentees will be matched up with an experienced psychiatrist based on their needs and interests.
Dedicated training activities, resources and supports have been developed for all participants. Approximately seven hours total preparation time will be required for this.
Mentoring partnerships will then be expected to communicate on a regular basis (approximately 1–2 hours per month) for a total of 8-months from April–December 2021.
Providing mentoring to trainees is an eligible CPD learning activity (category 4.7 College Activities).
Am I eligible to apply?
Participation as a mentor is open to all Fellows of the College (in Australia and New Zealand) and Affiliate members.
Mentoring partnerships opportunities will be available bi-nationally across Australia and New Zealand. Places to participate in the mentoring program are limited at this stage.
How do I apply?
Expressions of interest for mentors are now open through the RANZCP Mentoring webpage.
