The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) would like to express its concern and support for our military veterans and active service members who are distressed by the events occurring in Afghanistan.
In reaction to the current events in Afghanistan, defence force members and veterans may be feeling frustrated, distressed or anxious.
We acknowledge the immense sacrifices made by the military community, and their families, during deployment and after.
The RANZCP understands the emotions veterans and current ADF members may be feeling and encourage those that are feeling heightened distress to reach out and seek help from professional services.
As a veteran or active service member, you are not alone. We encourage you to talk with your friends, family, fellow members, connect with a peer network or reach out to mental health support services.
The RANZCP is available to provide assistance, and can be reached on: 1800 941 002 or advice on how to seek help can be found at Your Health in Mind, the RANZCP’s consumer health information website.
