RANZCP expresses support for the Indian psychiatric community

06 May 2021

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) wishes to express our strong support for all College members, their families and friends who may be affected by the current devastating wave of COVID-19 cases in India.

The RANZCP is extremely concerned over the unfolding situation in India, and we are saddened by the exceptionally challenging circumstances being faced by so many in that country.

In a media release this week, the RANZCP has also called on the Australian Government to look at the current COVID-19 crisis through a humanitarian and compassionate lens, and consider all options to help Australians stranded in India.

We have also recently written to the Indian Psychiatric Society, to convey our support to our colleagues and to offer any practical support we can.
