The RANZCP COVID-19 webpage has been redeveloped to ensure that our members can find the information relevant to them as quickly and easily as possible.
By now many of you will be aware of the most recent set of changes to Medicare-subsidised telehealth and telephone services which allow psychiatrists to consult with new patients. This is another much needed step in the government’s ongoing response to COVID-19.
In response to this announcement, the College has updated its information for private psychiatry practitioners regarding COVID-19 and developed a new look, easily accessible COVID-19 Clinical Practice webpage.
The College has been reasonably successful with its advocacy to the Government and Medicare and will continue on this path. This is an evolving situation which requires a multi-layered approach and the College acknowledges that the Government has a mammoth task in responding to the changing circumstances. This is being done in a staged approach, to which the College’s advice has been sought.
The government has indicated there will be more measures to allow for usual billing practices to continue with telehealth consultations, and we will continue to keep you informed.
