Leading youth mental health experts will this week gather in Sydney’s coastal suburb of Manly to take part in the annual Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Section of Youth Mental Health 2020 Conference.

The theme, ‘Coming of age’, acknowledges the maturing of the youth mental health field into an internationally recognised area of clinical and scientific endeavour.

With an outstanding line up of presentations, discussions and workshops from our invited speakers we will review how far psychiatry has come, where psychiatry is at and, most importantly, what youth mental health should be aiming to achieve as the field enters ’adulthood’.

Presentations and speakers include:

  • Early intervention and youth mental health: Youth Mental Health Reform: the best buy in healthcare Professor Patrick McGorry
  • Reducing risk through culture: the interface of cultural and clinical practice in young offenders leaving custody
    Dr Marshall Watson
  • Greta, Rebeca, Milo et al: Young people leading climate emergency change
Dr Magella Lajoie & Dr Cybele Dey
  • Young offenders diverted at court in NSW: health outcomes and trajectories
    Dr Claire Gaskin

The RANZCP Section of Youth Mental Health 2020 Conference will be held at the Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific on 6–7 March 2020.
