Applications for the 2017 RANZCP Research and Education Foundation Grant (REF Grant) and the New Investigator Grants (NIG) are now open.
In recognition that knowledge of research theory and methods is an essential skill in psychiatry, the REF Grant is designed to encourage applicants to undertake quality innovative research in psychiatry and be a springboard to enhance the applicant’s research career. The grant of A$10,000 will be awarded on the basis of the researcher’s expected contribution to psychiatry in Australia and/or New Zealand.
The REF Grant is available to RANZCP Fellows who are considered new to research, which generally includes those who have either not received any research funding individually, or a minimal amount (less than A$10,000), or have only previously undertaken research as part of a team rather than being the lead researcher.
The NIG program is designed to encourage those who are new to research and require a small amount of funding to conduct a small-scale study. It provides grants of between A$500 and A$6,000 to facilitate research projects and is open to:
- RANZCP Trainees
- RANZCP Fellows in their first two years of Fellowship.
Application forms and instructions for both grants are available on the Research Grants section of the RANZCP website.
The deadline for applications is 9am Monday 7 August 2017 (AEST).
