Funding round to support rural specialists in Australia to undertake CPD

23 February 2017

A new Commonwealth-funded program to support psychiatrists and other medical specialists in rural and remote Australia to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is now open for applications.

Information on eligibility and how to apply is available via the Support for Rural Specialists in Australia site.

Round one applications close on Friday 31 March 2017, for CPD activities to be completed between 17 April 2017 and 28 February 2018. Applications will be accepted up to a value of $2,000 per training day up to a maximum of 5 days education per person per annum. Successful applicants will be notified by early April, with reimbursement provided following successful completion of an online evaluation and submission of expenditure receipts.

The Commonwealth Department of Health and the Committee of Presidents of Medical Colleges (CPMC) have signed a three-year agreement for this new program, which supersedes the previous Rural Health Continuing Education Program.
