Recent updates

  • Stage 5 changes to telehealth consultations have been announced by the Australian Government.  All Medicare eligible Australians can now receive these services.  All services provided using the MBS telehealth items must be bulk billed for Commonwealth concession card holders, children under 16 years of age, and patients who are more vulnerable to COVID-19.   • The CFT suspends the Fellowship trajectory and associated landmarks for 2020 (December 2019 – December 2020 for New Zealand trainees and February 2020 – February 2021 for Australian trainees), along with a number of other significant announcements. Read more >
     
  • Completion of the 2020 CPD program is now voluntary and will not be required for continuation of Membership. The closing date for the extended reporting period for 2019 CPD has been further extended, with submissions now due 30 June 2020. Read more >
  • The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) and National Boards have announced a new pandemic sub-register to fast track the return to the workforce of over 40,000 experienced and qualified health practitioners to support our critical health workforce. The College is aware that some of our retired members are being contacted about being added to sub-register and we will have more information next week on what this means for them.
     
  • A RANZCP Board meeting is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday 7 April to continue discussions on College COVID-19 strategies and operational changes.

  • The Council of Presidents of Medical Colleges (CPMC) held their weekly meeting on Sunday 5 April. Discussions included the Australian Medical Council’s approach to addressing College accreditation; PPE procurement, national hospitals plan, and telehealth briefing from the Department of Health; a Medical Board of Australia update on CPD and the pandemic sub-register; the global and national situation generally; and the financial stability and staff wellbeing of all medical colleges by CEOs.

  • The early bird deadline for all membership subscription renewals has been extended and will now close on 30 April 2020.
