Australian Medical Council accreditation progress update
18 Feb 2026
Update
The College is continuing to work towards meeting the standards, conditions and recommendations identified in the 2023 Australian Medical Council (AMC) Accreditation Report and submitted a comprehensive report outlining our progress in August 2025.
In its response to our submission, the AMC has noted that it was well written and reflected the significant work underway to meet all 46 conditions by the end of 2027. Importantly, eight of the nine standards are now assessed as substantially met, with two more conditions fully satisfied and many sub conditions also addressed.
This progress was supported by a collaborative and structured approach to developing the submission – an approach the AMC has recommended be repeated for the next submission due in June 2026.
A sincere thanks to the many Fellows, trainees, community members and staff who have contributed tirelessly to these significant achievements. We will continue to work together to shape our College as a contemporary organisation providing world class medical training and education.
