Section of Rural Psychiatry

The Section of Rural Psychiatry (SRP) promotes the highest standards in clinical practice, training and research pertaining to the practice of psychiatry in rural and remote locations.

The Regulations [PDF; 85 KB] of the SRP outline the role and responsibilities of the bi-national Section. 

Rural psychiatry

Rural psychiatry is the practice of psychiatry in rural and remote locations. The SRP recognises the unique set of skills required for practice in remote locations. 

Aims

The SRP aims to:

  • promote the objectives of the College relating to rural and remote psychiatry
  • advise on and advocate for training in rural and remote locations
  • advance and disseminate research in rural and remote psychiatry
  • contribute to and promote the highest standards of clinical practice.

Membership

All members of the College (including trainees and Affiliates) are eligible to join the SRP. For further information on membership, please email membership@ranzcp.org.
