A range of awards are offered by individual RANZCP Branches to acknowledge the achievements of trainees, medical students and Fellows within that particular Branch.
Such awards are administered by the Branches, and any enquiries should be directed to the responsible Branch.

RANZCP Beverley Raphael Prize for Psychiatry – ACT Branch
This prize is awarded to the most outstanding final year medical student in psychiatry at the Australian National University, where Professor Raphael was the Professor of Psychiatry until 2016. The award consist of a payment of $1000.
RANZCP ACT Branch Scientific Meeting Presentation Award
The RANZCP ACT Branch Scientific Meeting Presentation Award is awarded to a Registrar or Junior Doctor in Psychiatry for the most meritorious presentation at the annual Scientific Meeting. The Award consists of a payment of $500 and a certificate.
RANZCP ACT Branch Teresa Foce Award
Dr Teresa Foce (ACT) was an outstanding Fellow who provided excellent clinical service as well as major contributions to trainee and medical student teaching and welfare. She was a highly respected peer and mentor to many trainees and Fellows. The Award acknowledges the most outstanding contributions by a trainee psychiatrist, individual or agency, as assessed through service to patients, the profession, and the community.

The Meritorious Service Award (ACT) acknowledges outstanding contribution to the function of the RANZCP or the practice of psychiatry in a clinical, academic or administrative capacity.

New South Wales
RANZCP NSW Branch Meritorious Service Award
Presented annually, this award recognises a Fellow of the RANZCP in New South Wales who has made significant, sustained contribution to the practice of psychiatry in a clinical, academic or administrative capacity, or to an agency or individual who is not a College Member, but has contributed to the improvement of mental health in New South Wales. The Award is presented at the Annual New South Wales Branch CME event.

Peter Lewis Memorial Fund
Named in honour of the late Professor Peter Lewis, this award is made to a New Zealand trainee in child psychiatry to support attendance at the College Congress or a similar activity. The award comprises a sum of money towards the registration fee, travel and accommodation.
Dawn Short Trust Fund
The Dawn Short Trust Fund was established in 1978 with a donation from Ms Dawn Short. The Fund awards a prize of $2000 annually for the best paper presented at the RANZCP New Zealand National Office conference by an advanced trainee or junior consultant within 5 years of achieving Fellowship.The award may provide scholarships, bursaries or grants of up to $2000 to applicants for various activities.
Kathleen Todd Fellowship in Psychiatry
The Fellowship encourages overseas postgraduate experience for medical practitioners training or trained in psychiatry, with the object of improving psychiatric resources in New Zealand. The Fund may grant fellowships, bursaries, travelling and other scholarships to assist with the expenses of doctors obtaining additional experience overseas.

The RANZCP Paul Schneider Award
The RANZCP Joan Lawrence Mental Health Prize
These prizes are awarded to the medical student with the highest mark in their mental heath rotation for their final year at the University of Queensland, James Cook University, Griffith University and Bond University. Recipients are awarded an engraved medallion and a cheque for $500.
RANZCP Joan Lawrence Queensland Meritorious Service Award
The Meritorious Service Award recognises either Fellows who have made significant, sustained contributions to the practice of psychiatry in a clinical, academic or administrative capacity, or agencies or non-Fellows who have contributed to the improvement of mental health in Queensland. This award is presented annually and consists of a medallion, and certificate and is presented at the Queensland Branch Annual Meeting.
Anne E Loughlin Memorial Prize
The Anne E Loughlin Memorial Prize is an award offered jointly by the RANZCP’s SA Branch, and the South Australian Psychiatry Training Committee. It is awarded annually to the person who has made an outstanding contribution to the training of psychiatrists in South Australia during the previous year. The Prize consists of a $500 book voucher from Imprints bookshop. A certificate is attached to the inside cover of the book chosen by the recipient.
Professor Rob Barrett Prize
This Prize commemorates the contribution of Professor Rob Barrett to post-graduate psychiatric training in South Australia. It is given for the best performance by a South Australian registrar in the RANZCP Basic Training examinations. The Prize consists of a framed certificate and $2,000 in the form of a $1,000 book voucher and $1,000 cash grant.
John Cade Memorial Medal
Named in honour of the late Dr John Cade, the John Cade Memorial Medal is awarded to a final year Victorian medical student following a special clinical examination at Monash University or the University of Melbourne.
RANZCP Victorian Branch Meritorious Service Award
The RANZCP’s Victorian Branch Meritorious Awards are awarded annually to recognise the outstanding contribution to psychiatry by a Fellow and an external agency or individual. The Meritorious Awards are presented at the Victorian Branch AGM in the year of the award.

CB Kidd Memorial Prize
Named in honour of the late Dr Cecil Kidd, the annual CB Kidd Memorial Prize is awarded to the best student in psychiatry during the course of the degree of Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Western Australia. The award consists of a medallion, a certificate and a cheque for $600, which is presented at the WA Branch General Meeting.

Named in honour of the late Dr Arch Ellis, the Arch Ellis Award is awarded annually to the fourth year medical student at the University of Western Australia who obtains the highest marks in psychiatry the previous year. Named in honour of the late Dr Mark Rooney, the Mark Rooney Memorial prize is awarded annually to the fourh year MBBS (postgraduate) student at Notre Dame University who obtains the highest mark in Psychiatry. The award consists of a medallion, a certificate and a cheque for $500 which is presented at the WA Branch General Meeting.

RANZCP WA Branch Meritorious Service Award
The Meritorious Service Award of the RANZCP’s WA Branch is awarded on an occasional basis to recognise outstanding contribution to psychiatry in Western Australia by a person or organisation. Nominations are received from the WA Fellowship and are assessed by the Branch Committee. The Award is presented at the Western Australian branch dinner in the year of award, and consists of a medallion and certificate.
