This is the second of a series of video graphed encounter conversations with retired psychiatrists and/or psychotherapists. These legacy interviews aim to capture testimonies and experiences of being and becoming a psychiatrist and/or psychotherapist and how it may have influenced the interviewee's life and world.

Ann Cebon studied Sociology and Psychology at the University of California at Berkeley and is a registered Psychologist in Victoria since 1975. She trained as a child psychotherapist at the Tavistock Clinic and worked in clinics and hospitals within the National Health service in London from 1966-1975. Ann moved to Melbourne Australia and worked periodically at the Royal Children's hospital for 25 years in various public sector clinics as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, supervisor, clinical consultant, and teacher. Primarily she worked in private practice as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with children and adults. Now semi-retired she has been a longstanding member of the Victorian Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, the VAPP. Her particular interest is in how careful training in observation, particularly infant observation can help clinicians in their work both with children and with adults. She has special interests in ethics and teaching having run many seminars in the Tavistock method of infant observation as founded by Esther Bick. Ann has written publications about her experiences of supervision with Esther Bick. A focus of this conversation will include Ann's learnings from her experiences in infant observation.

Dr Gabriel Feiler (interviewer)

Gabriel is a psychiatrist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist. He works in private practice and as a consultant psychotherapist with St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne and sits on the VAPP ethics committee. He was previously the secretary of the Victorian RANZCP Faculty of Psychotherapy.

Dr Vivienne Elton (OAM) (moderator)

Vivienne is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, past president and current training analyst of the Australian Psychoanalytical Society, and chair of the IPA in the Humanitarian Field Committee.

Dr Paul Foulkes (moderator)

Paul is a psychiatrist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist in private practice. He has been a Past President of the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Australasia (PPAA) and the Victorian Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (VAPP). He has also been past Chair of the VAPP Ethics Committee. He teaches and supervises in Psychotherapy training courses.
