WellingtonNew Zealand PIF members can apply for one of up to fifteen (15) scholarships to attend the PIF Introduction to Psychiatry Short Course that will be held at the RANZCP New Zealand National Office in Wellington on Friday, 27 October from 9:00am–4:30pm NZDT.
Our first in-person short course ever offered to New Zealand members, this will be a fantastic opportunity to develop your understanding of the specialty of psychiatry further, and get to meet and hear from current practicing psychiatrists and trainees.
Successful applicants will receive:
- A pre-event welcome function the night before the short course (Thursday, 26 October)
- Registration to attend the full day in-person short course (Friday, 27 October)
- Financial support to cover travel expenses for air or road travel and accommodation for eligible applicants.
- An opportunity to hear from and network with local Fellows and trainees, as well as meet other PIF members interested in psychiatry.
- Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea during the course.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a current RANZCP PIF member (or have their application pending), and be currently enrolled as a medical student, postgraduate doctors (PGY 1, PGY 2) or residential medical officer (RMO Y1, RMO Y2)
- Demonstrate an interest in psychiatry and mental health;
- Demonstrate how the short course will benefit and/or influence their medical career aspirations.
- Commit to attending the full day short course program, commencing at 9:00am NZST on Friday, 27 October until 4:30 pm. There is no option to attend this event virtually.
To ensure equity of access of the PIF Program, a PIF member who has already been awarded any in-person PIF scholarship or bursary in 2023 will be ineligible to apply for a scholarship to attend the short course.
PIF members who received a virtual scholarship to attend the RANZCP New Zealand Conference from 11–13 September are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
PIF members who have received any scholarship or bursary in 2023 will be eligible to apply for future PIF activities.
How to apply
Applicants must submit a written statement up to a maximum of 250 words addressing the following eligibility criteria:
- Why they would like to attend the PIF short course?
- Their interest and/or involvement in psychiatry and mental health.
- How attendance at the PIF short course may benefit and/or influence their medical career aspirations?
Applications must be submitted electronically via the PIF Introduction to Psychiatry Short Course, Wellington –online application form.
Applications will close at 5:00pm NZST on Monday 18 September 2023. Late applications will not be accepted.
