In-personPsychosis is relatively uncommon in adolescents, particularly under the age of 15 years. Statistics vary considerably, but generally the accepted prevalence in the population is one per 1,000.
Management of early onset psychosis is increasingly done in specialised services. Published Australian guidelines for management e.g. Australian Clinical Guidelines for Early Psychosis (Orygen), and Schizophrenia (RANZCP) are now 8+ years old.
Child psychiatrists encounter and manage children with psychosis infrequently and requested an update on the current interventions including the utility of new and emerging antipsychotic medications.
