The Board is the governing body of the College and comprises the President, the President-Elect and five elected directors – elected from among the College’s Fellows. Each elected director is also responsible for chairing a constituent committee of the Board.

The Board is responsible for all matters relating to the strategic direction, policies, practices and the operations of the College.

Board meeting dates

The Board meeting dates for 2020 are:

  • Saturday 22 February 2020, Canberra
  • Thursday 12 March 2020, teleconference
  • Tuesday 24 March to end of July 2020, fortnightly teleconference
  • Remainder of dates for 2020 to be confirmed

Board Matters

Board Matters is published after each Board meeting and is an official publication provided to College members to inform them of items discussed and the progress of actions.

Board responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Board include:

  • Oversight of the College, including its legal, compliance and accountability systems.
  • Ensuring that the College abides by the objects for which it was established as set out in the
  • Determining the College’s vision, values and strategic purpose.
  • Ensuring that the College complies with its regulatory obligations and ethical standards.
  • Ensuring that policies for governance and risk management are effectively implemented.
  • Approving and monitoring financial statements and performance against the budgets, the
    financial objectives and performance targets for the College and other reporting activities.
  • Setting and undertaking Board and Director evaluations.
  • Approving the acquisition and disposal of major assets if not already provided for in the
    budget approval by the Board.
  • Entering into material financial arrangements, including loans and debt arrangements.
  • Establishing and overseeing the Members’ Advisory Council and committees of the Board.
  • Appointing, evaluating and removing the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Election of the Board

The Board comprises seven Board Directors directly elected by the Fellowship.

Elections for the positions of President-Elect and Elected Directors are held by remote ballot once every 2 years (alternate years), and all Fellows are eligible to vote.

Results are declared at the RANZCP Annual General Meeting. Board terms are in accordance with the College's Constitution.

The performance of the RANZCP Board is reviewed regularly.
